Photography in Vermont | The Butler Family
Three boys, three incredibly fun adventurous boys. I had the pleasure of photographing our good friends, the Butlers at the Shelburne Museum in Shelburne, Vermont. Vermont family photography is so special to me. Family is very important to me. And, I love having the opportunity to create timeless and amazing memories for other families. It is one of the many joys of my work that I would not trade for anything.
The Shelburne Museum is an incredible place to have a photo shoot. It is fun for the whole family (and photographer). Besides the natural beauty of the Vermont landscape, Shelburne Farms give me so many unique options for portraits in one location. The boys loved exploring the grounds and I could grab their attention every once in a while for a great shot with or without the parents. It is nice to find a location that keeps your children engaged when planning your Vermont family photography session. If the kids are entertained, it makes such a difference in the outcome of the photos. Everyone is more relaxed and while the children play, I can capture the true personalities of each child. Spending a few hours wondering the property was the perfect way for this family to enjoy their family portrait. The best pictures happen when you least expect them to happen. It is great to be in a location with a variety of settings and lighting. This broadens the depth of the opportunity for wonderful family images. Don't put too much pressure on the day or the children to perform. Put them in a place of comfort and they will set the mood for the day. This is why I enjoy photographing families at your home or a familiar location. Let's explore together and take the time to get it right. I never rush my Vermont family photography sessions because when you slow down and enjoy the process, great things happen. I believe this was the case for the Butler family.
