Wedding in Stowe Vermont
David and Jessica's spectacular Vermont wedding was held at The Ledges in September 2017. This amazing estate is Jessica's family's private home in Stowe, Vermont. David and Jessica have a shared love for books. Jessica works for a publisher in NYC. She also manages the popular Instagram account @bookivoracious. They showcased their love of books and Vermont during the wedding day. They had fabulous Mountain themed wedding invitations. As well as, author named table cards, and gorgeous reception decor by Jayson Munn Designs. Every detail was meticulously planned and perfectly executed.
One of the best parts of the reception was when David's best man, Chad De Luca gave the groom David a joke Oscar award for the best proposal ever! He explained how David flew Jessica's whole family to New York City to be at their proposal at the Housing Works Bookstore and Café. Jessica had no idea that the family was in town. David asked Jessica to marry him. She said yes, started crying and then she looked down over the railing, and her whole family was there! What an incredible moment for a sweet couple. We shot their engagement session a few months after in Stowe, Vermont.
Jessica works for Penguin Random House. She loves to read and loves books. Since her siblings are a bit older than her, they had left for school before Jessica was in high school. Books kept her company! All of this made the Housing Works the perfect place for their engagement and contributed to the idea of a book-themed wedding. The tables were named after their favorite authors, and the bride received a journal where she would put her “wedding stories.”
On their wedding day, Vermont caught the tail end of Hurricane Jose. It rained sideways for the whole day, so the hardworking Vermont wedding vendors moved all of the events into the tents. Thank goodness the couple had a backup plan for weather. Although it rained most of the day, we were able to use the tents, the home, and covered porches to get some dramatic shots. The love between Jessica and David shined through the rain and clouds. Their love was infectious throughout the day, and it was an honor being there to capture the moments.
Jessica got ready in the main house. Her mother and sisters helped her to get dressed, which was a perfect group for her. Some people have all of their bridesmaids and others choose just their mother to help them get into the dress. This was a nice gesture for Jessica to chose this intimate group as she was the last to get married in her immediate family. All four of her siblings were in the wedding party, and so were their eleven (between the four of them) children. Her dad was the financial advisor to the former prime minister of Canada, Brian Mulroney, so he attended the wedding as well.
Jessica and David held a traditional Jewish wedding ceremony. Their parents were invited to witness the Ketubah signing and Bedeken portions of the ceremony. Both have beautiful meanings in the Jewish faith. The Ketubah is a special type of Jewish prenuptial agreement. It is considered an integral part of a traditional Jewish marriage, and outlines the rights and responsibilities of the groom, in relation to the bride. And, their continuance of life as individuals even after marriage, among other things. The Bedeken is the ceremony where the groom veils the bride.
Jessica and David were very emotional during the first look and the ceremony, alternating between laughter and tears for the whole day. People (especially brides) worry that this kind of emotional display will ruin their wedding photos, but it made photos of Jessica more authentic and beautiful!
Congratulations Jessica and David! Good LUCK to you as you move onto the next stage in your life. Without a doubt, you will continue to have success and happiness in all areas!
