An interview with a Charleston Florist

Where do you get your inspiration for the beautiful flower arrangements?

I do a lot of research online, on sites like Pinterest, The Knot, Style Me Pretty, and other wedding and flower blog sites. The Charleston Wedding Market is very inspiring. I love a great many designers doing amazing work in Charleston and abroad. I also like to look to nature to inspire me.

What is your favorite flower?

When I started in the Charleston Wedding business and before starting my business, my favorite flower was tulips and then ranunculus, but now I am crazy about peonies!

What is the hardest flower to work with?

It depends on the design, but probably the flowers that brown upon touching them. Gardenias and stephanotis are both challenging flowers to work with.

Anything else that you would like to share would be wonderful!

I think that it is important when booking a Charleston wedding is for my bride to show me as many pictures as possible. It is wonderful if I can see the bride’s gown, the wedding party attire, and décor. Anything that can help me understand the couple’s style.
